Steven C. Black, PLS, President
Steve is a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. He received his Associate’s degree in Specialized Technology. He has more than 30 years of surveying experience and has been a Professional Licensed Surveyor in Pennsylvania since 1999.
Steve is a member of numerous surveying associations including: the Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors, the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping, the National Society of Professional Surveyors, the American Association of Geodetic Surveying and the Cartography and Geographical Information Society. He is also a Volunteer Coordinator and serves on the Builders Committee of Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity.
Glenn R. Conover, IT Manager & CAD Tech II
Glenn started his career in Land Surveying as a Survey Rodman for a large New Jersey firm in 1976. He eventually moved from the field to office operations, processing field computations and manually drafting Survey Plans. Over the years, he transitioned into operating Land Development software and also served as a CADD Manager.
He was instrumental in the development of CADD Standards for several Civil Engineering/Surveying firms. For the past 15 years, Glenn has been an IT Manager for more than 100 users.
Glenn is a Philadelphia Eagles fan, enjoys home theater/audio projects and learning about the latest operating systems, as well as new technologies on the horizon. Glenn enjoys hanging out with his wife Glenda and playing with Coco, their Yorkshire terrier.
David C. Garman, PLS/PSM Project Manager
Dave is a graduate of Penn State University with an Associates Degree in Survey Technology. Dave has 36 years experience surveying and has been a Professional Licensed Surveyor in Pennsylvania for 30 years. He had served as a project manager for Lake, Roeder, Hillard & Associates. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Professional Land Surveyors.
Dave is a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster. A fourth generation cabinetmaker, he helps in his father’s shop with furniture repair, restoration and refinishing. He is an avid NASCAR fan enjoys watching football and in his spare time, tending to the several gardens around the house.
Ronald L. Hogg, Survey Project Manager
Ron is a graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg High School where he was valedictorian of his high school graduating class. He attended Pennsylvania State University.
Ron has more than 26 years of surveying experience ranging from entry level rodman to 15+ years of experience with managing and scheduling projects and client relations.
When Ron is not creating a positive productive team atmosphere ensuring client satisfaction here at LGS, he enjoys playing and coaching adult men’s and/or coed softball. He is also an avid sports’ fan cheering loudly for Kevin Harvick, Alabama, the Yankees and the Cowboys. On Friday nights, your best chance of bumping into Ron would be at a poker table somewhere playing Texas Hold Em.
Michael L. Lester, Project Manager
Mike manages our construction stakeout projects. He contributes 13 years as a surveyor. Mike served in the United States Marine Corps from 1992 to 1996. He attended HACC and the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
Daniel L. Lynn, CAD Tech II
Dan Lynn started his surveying career in the field, going to school in the evenings to learn AutoCAD and eventually becoming a full-time CAD Technician. He has over 7 ½ years of experience in the Surveying industry. Dan is a graduate of Penn Manor High School and attended HACC for business classes.
Christi L. McGinnis, Controller
Christi handles LGS’ financial and business operations as well as payroll. She is a graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School, attended Bloomsburg University and Millersville University majoring in computer science and art. Christi is also a registered Pennsylvania Notary Public. She and her husband are members of LCBC Church, Manheim and the Lancaster Liederkranz.
Mike Nafe, Title Survey Technician
Mike, a graduate of Lancaster Catholic, went to Reading Area Community College and attends Penn State University for continuing surveying education. For over 25 years, Mike has delivered exceptional surveying and engineering tech service; including instrumentation and party chief for topographic and boundary and construction stakeout projects. Mike is experienced in Topcon series total stations & Leica & Trimble robotic series along with GPS units, Leica 900, TOPCON Hyper2 Series & G series.
When not making LGS clients happy, Mike has spent much time volunteering as a coach for Hempfield and St. Leo soccer, softball, football and basketball, as well as Habitat for Humanity, rebuilding houses for Florida hurricane victims.
Mike is an avid Steelers fan and somehow manages to find time to follow Notre Dame, the Flyers and Phillies—when not spending time making memories with his wife and three daughters.
Heather M. Shindler, Administrative Assistant
Heather joined Land Grant Surveyors as an administrative assistant. She works Mondays through Wednesdays. A graduate of Central York High School and Penn State University, she holds a bachelors in accounting.
Jeffrey M. Upton, Senior Field Survey Technician
Jeff works out in the field most of the time doing construction stakeout work for LGS. He also performs other types of field surveys. Jeff has been in the surveying industry for 13 years. He is a member of the New Holland American Legion and enjoys golfing, boating and NASCAR racing.
William Schmitt, CAD Tech II
Bill brings a bachelor of arts degree from Millersville University with a major in geography and minor in anthropology and a diploma from Harrisburg Area Community College in civil drafting and surveying . He also has his Surveyor in Training Certificate, SIT, and is looking forward to becoming a professional licensed surveyor of the highest standards. Bill holds membership in the National Geographic Society and the Pennsylvania Geograpfhic Society.
Duncan, LGS Collections
Duncan is a hard working LGS staffer whose intimidating presence works to his advantage leading our Collections Department. Customers say, however, that his bark is worse than his bite, and just keep coming back to LGS. Some even bring Duncan a treat, despite his rough affect.
Fiona, LGS Receptionist
Fiona is our honorary receptionist and greets all of our visitors with a sniff and a smile. She has a knack for customer relations and keeps our team motivated with her charm and wit.
